2010 Gardner Parks and Wal-mart Fishing Derby
Fishing Derby
This year hosted 67 kids from Gardner Area. The weather was cool and the fish were a
little picky.
Two age groups ages 0-6 and 7-12 fought a few fish. Glen and Cindy Johanson
helped with registration and recording the fish.
The Kansas Wildlife and Parks passed out bait and loaner rods and reels plus free
prize bags. Gardner Department of Parks and Recreation, Director Jalinda Blanding,
organized the event and had additional giveaways.
Wal-mart and the Kansas Wildscape OK - Kids provided everyone with a cool T-shirt.
With only a few fish caught by most, you could not tell the fishing was bad with all
the smiles and fun.
The contestants were served hot dogs, chips, and drinks by Price Chopper and each
received a life jacket by Coleman Products of Gardner, Kansas.
